VINTAGE
After a late frost at the beginning of April which spared the estate, followed by a mild spring and an exceptional flowering, drought set in. However, our vines resisted superbly thanks to a well thought-out and accomplished vineyard management. The harvest was early, but the quality of the juice is quite remarkable.
VINEYARD
Château La Peyruche is located on the magnificent hillsides overlooking the Garonne River. This wine comes from a single plot of young Merlots (Les Pins Francs) on asteriated limestone. All our plots are cultivated according to the specifications of the Organic Agriculture.
GRAPE VARIETY
100% Merlot.
VINIFICATION
The grapes are harvested when the aromatic maturity is reached. Vatting lasts from 10 to 15 days at moderate temperature, and fermentation is carried out with native yeasts. In order to reduce the inputs in our wines and to respect the aromatic profiles offered by these Merlots, we decided to elaborate this cuvée without any sulfites added.
1500 bottles produced.
TASTING
The robe is deep with purple reflections. The nose is dominated by blackcurrant and blueberry notes. The mouth is fresh and fruity. The tannins "of youth" are present and bring relief to this vintage dedicated to the cleanliness of the fruit.
FOOD AND WINE PAIRING
Depending on the season and the mood, this wine can be served relatively cool, around 15°C. It will perfectly accompany your platters of charcuterie and your grilled meats.
